Mulch is dumped on Friday, July 5, at the new playground being built in East Germantown next to the Wayne Bank Unit of Boys & Girls Clubs of Wayne County, 519 Queen St.

The town raised $55,332 and received $50,000 through Indiana Housing & Community Development Authority’s CreatINg Places grant program. The equipment will include two basketball goals, equipment for climbing, sliding and swinging, resurfacing the basketball court and surfacing nearly 3,000 square feet of playing space.

Four other Wayne County playground campaigns — Cambridge City, Dublin, Economy and Milton — also met their fundraising goals in recent months. Cambridge City officials recently announced that 100 donors gave more than $80,000 to qualify for the state’s $50,000 match.
