Subscribing

How much does it cost to subscribe to the Western Wayne News?
You can view our latest pricing on our Subscribe page. We offer print, online and print + online options.

What does a subscription include?
A subscription gives you access to our local reporting by local journalists on the stories, updates, events, sports, people, photos and other information that helps you know what’s happening and what’s important in your community. Your financial support allows us to operate as Wayne County’s only locally owned, independent newspaper.

How long does a subscription last?
Subscriptions are for 12 months, billed annually on the anniversary date of your subscription start.

How do I pay for a subscription?
If you order your print, online or print + online subscription through our website, you can use a credit or debit card. Your subscription will be set to auto-renew every year using your payment card. You can change the payment method, disable auto-renewal or cancel any time.

You can also pay for a print subscription by cash, check or credit card. Call (765) 478-5448 and select option 1, or your can mail your payment to 26 W Church St., Cambridge City, IN 47327. Please clearly indicate the name, address and contact information for the subscriber.

Can you send me an invoice for my subscription?
We can issue invoices for subscriptions on request. Note that subscriptions will start following payment of the invoice.

Can I just pay for 10 years right now?
Thank you for your support and confidence in us, but we currently only support renewals for one year at a time.

Will you ever change the subscription price?
We are a subscriber-supported publication and from time to time we do adjust our subscription pricing to reflect the costs of producing a great local newspaper. We try to keep any changes minimal and give plenty of notice, as we know many of our readers are on a fixed budget.

How will I know when to renew my subscription?
Unless you have arranged otherwise, your subscription renewal is due one year from the date of your subscription start. If you subscribed through our website, your subscription will auto-renew using your credit card on file until canceled, and you will receive an email reminder a few days before your renewal. For others, we attempt to remind subscribers of upcoming expirations via postcard or email, but these reminders do not always get through. Please contact us if you’d like to confirm your renewal date.

What if I change my mind or don’t like the paper?
We offer a 30 day satisfaction guarantee. If you receive the paper for a few weeks and then decide you don’t want it after all, we’ll end your subscription and refund your original purchase.

Can I get a refund for a partially unused subscription?
After our satisfaction guarantee period, we do not offer pro-rated refunds for partially unused subscriptions. We’re able to keep our subscription prices low by billing annually and planning our finances accordingly. If you don’t want or need your subscription any more, we can still pause delivery or redirect the remainder of your subscription to a friend or someone else who might enjoy it.

How do I cancel my subscription?
You can cancel your subscription at any time. If you created your subscription through our website, you can log in to your online account and cancel before your next renewal date.

If you do not manage your subscription online, your subscription will automatically expire at the end of the subscription term if you do not pay for another year.

If you’d like to stop receiving the paper before the end of your subscription term, please contact us.

Gift Subscriptions

How do I give a gift subscription?
Read more about how to give a gift subscription.

Will you send out a gift card notifying a gift recipient of the subscription?
Unfortunately the gift subscription cost does not cover the additional time and postage needed to send out gift notices. Please consider using our online email delivery option, or printing and mailing your own notification.

I received a gift subscription. How do I use it?
When someone buys a gift subscription for you, an email is sent to your email address with a gift card code. This unique code can be used to apply to value of the gift toward your subscription purchase, or if you already have an existing subscription, future renewals. The gift amount does not have to match your subscription price in order to be used.

When checking out with your subscription order, right above the payment method box you’ll see a field where you can enter the gift code and click “Apply” to update your balance due.

I’m redeeming a gift card but am still being asked for a credit card number – why?
When you subscribe through our website, we take a payment method to put on file to handle future renewals. If the gift card covers the full price of your initial subscription and the “Total” line on the order shows as $0, your card will not be charged to start your subscription. If you’d like to immediately cancel auto-renewal of your subscription, you can do that to avoid any future charges on your card.

I want to redeem a gift card but don’t want to do it through your website, what should I do?
Please contact us for assistance and we can set up your subscription for you using the gift card balance.

Print Delivery

What day will the paper be delivered?
We hand the newspapers off to the US Postal Service on Tuesday. Most subscribers in Wayne County receive their paper on Wednesday. Papers may take longer to arrive based on your address and other factors affecting USPS delivery times. If you live out of state, the paper may take as much as a week to arrive.

After I subscribe, when will I start getting the paper?
The address list for our print issues is finalized on Monday mornings for that week’s paper. If your subscription is active by Monday morning, you should receive a paper that week.

Can you deliver to somewhere other than my mailbox?
Because we use the US Postal Service for delivery of the paper, mailboxes or other standard USPS delivery locations are where the paper will be placed.

I didn’t receive my paper, what do I do?
If you haven’t received your paper by the day you usually get it, we ask that you wait an extra day before contacting us to see if it arrives late.

If your paper is missing, late or damaged, please let us know. We will track this issue and notify the postal service of any ongoing issues or trends. We can also extend your subscription accordingly.

Can you mail me a copy of a single paper?
Unfortunately it is cost-prohibitive to mail out individual copies of the paper, as the postal service charges a higher rate for that kind of mailing than what we pay for bulk mailing. Alternatively you can stop by our office during open hours, or find a copy at one of our retail locations.

I’m moving or heading south for winter, how do I update my delivery address?
If you manage your subscription through our website, you can log in to your account, visit the subscription page and click the “Change Address” button. Otherwise, please contact us for any address changes. Note that the USPS will not forward copies of the newspaper as a part of standard mail forwarding services, even temporarily, and they will not inform us about changes in address.

I’ll be traveling, how do I pause my print newspaper delivery?
One option is to contact the USPS about holding your mail while you are away, and then the newspaper will be available in your held mail to read when you return. If you would still like to pause delivery of the paper, please contact us.

Do you offer a large print edition?
At this time we do not offer a large type format of the paper. While we aim to make the paper as accessible as possible, including to people with vision challenges, we do not currently have the staff capacity to produce an additional edition in a different format. If this is something you may be interested in the future, please contact us.

Online Subscriptions

What does an online subscription include?
An online subscription includes access to the PDF / e-edition of the newspaper, which is a full color, high-resolution copy of the paper that you can read online. We usually post the online edition on Tuesday or Wednesday each week.

Throughout the week we also post some of our articles on our website, and provide free access to a limited number of those every month. If you are an online subscriber, you receive unlimited online access to any articles we post.

What do I need to access the online content?
You can use a desktop web browser, mobile device, tablet or other Internet-enabled device to read the paper online. We recommend a larger monitor or screen for best results.

If you don’t have a connected computing device at home, you can use computing resources available at local libraries and community centers.

Can I subscribe online without an email address?
At this time you need an active email address to use our website for online subscription management or access to subscriber-only content.

Can I add online access to my print subscription?
Yes. If you manage your print subscription through our website, you can log in to your account and switch your subscription type at any time. If your change requires an additional payment, you can pay as a part of making that change.

If you do not manage your print subscription online, you can either sign up for online access as a separate subscription, or we can help you consolidate your subscription into a single print + online subscription, please contact us for assistance with that.

Can I share my online access with someone else?
Yes, but we ask that you restrict sharing of online accounts to members of your immediate household. We ask that businesses and organizations do not share accounts and instead purchase individual online subscriptions for each employee/user. If an account’s access is shared more widely, it may be canceled.

Can I download the PDF file of the newspaper to read offline?
We do not offer the option to download the full PDF file for reading outside of our website or offline because this would enable redistributing the paper in bulk to people without paid subscriptions. We don’t like the idea of having to limit what’s possible for the majority of our readers just because of what a small number of users might choose to do with a downloaded file, but unfortunately that’s the current tradeoff we’re making.

I forgot my password, what do I do?
You can use our “forgot password” page to reset your password.

I forgot what username or email address I used to sign up, what do I do?
Please contact us so we can look up your account.

I’m having trouble getting into my account or reading the paper online, can you help?
Yes, please contact us.
