William Wayne DeHart, 76, of New Castle passed away on the afternoon of Sunday, January 1, 2023 at Henry Community Health.
He was born on July 18, 1946 in New Castle, IN, a son of the late Troy and Margaret (Thompson) DeHart.
Wayne graduated from New Castle High School and later served in the United States Army. He was the manager of Marsh Supermarkets until his retirement in 2006. Wayne was a member of the American Legion and First Baptist Church of New Castle. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, Colts fan and dearly loved his family.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Paulette DeHart; children, Dena Apppleby, Troy DeHart and Chris (Amanda) DeHart; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Dale (Lila) DeHart, Lonnie (Jeanine) DeHart and Jerry (Sandi) DeHart; two sisters; Connie Servos, Debby (Rick) Raines and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Patty Melton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Thursday, January 5, 2023 at First Baptist Church Life Center in New Castle with Pastor Jerry Ingalls officiating. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery West Lawn Addition with military honors provided by contingents from the U.S. Army and American Legion.
Friends may call from 4 – 7 pm, Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at the church and also from 12 – 1pm prior to the service on Thursday.
