William Payne Lucas, Jr, aged 79, of Connersville, passed away on January 18, 2023 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, OH. William was born on August 26, 1943 in Connersville, the son of the late William Payne Lucas and Ethel Glisson.
William work for McQuay-Norris in his younger years and retired from Morris Excavating after many years of service. After retirement, he began farming. William treasured the simple life that he lived and loved working his farm, gardening, growing sunflowers, cutting wood and hunting. Most of all he valued the time he spent with his family.
He has left behind to remember his life with joy and love in their hearts, a daughter, Tracy (Scott) Caldwell; granddaughter, Cierra (Chase Pope) Caldwell; great grandchildren, Cason and Chanox Pope; and dear friends Randy and Sue Schuler. He will be thought of often by his brothers, Willie “Bud” Lucas and Johnny (Rose) McFarland; sisters, Marsha Moore and Arminta Proctor; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death his adoptive parents, Richard and Cecil Alberta McFarland, who raised and loved him as their own; three brothers, Denver McFarland, Dennis McFarland and Bill McFarland; two sisters, Barbara Harsh and Jean Weisheit; brothers in law, Eric Moore and Roy Proctor; and sister in law, Betty McFarland.
Respecting William’s wishes cremation was chosen.
