William “Bill” Thomas Shearer, 83, of Richmond, died Sunday, February 26, 2023, at Reid Health surrounded by his family. He was born on January 1, 1940, in Mt. Vernon, Kentucky to Bennie Shearer and Dorothy McCracken Rowland and lived here most of his life. Bill retired from Thoro Systems and was a member of the Hod Carriers Union.
Bill was proud to be a Kentucky Colonel. He was a member of the King’s Highway Holiness Church. He was an inspiration to every life he touched. He loved fishing, genealogy, photography, eating out with family and friends, and taking trips to Kentucky remembering his younger days. His kindness and generosity were immeasurable. He will be missed by so many people. We are also thankful for the care our Dad received on the 4th floor at Reid Health.
Bill is survived by his children Wayne Shearer, Teresa (Kevin) Taggart, Bennie Shearer, Danny (Bonita) Shearer, Darren (Adrienne) Shearer, and Jesse (Cristy) Shearer, his grandchildren Kimberly Shearer, Christina Jackson, Benjamin Jackson, Kaitlin Thompson, Thomas Shearer, Zachary Shearer, Alan Shearer, Nicholas Shearer, Kelcie Shearer, Erica Watson, Jessica Newton, Jason Shearer, Jasmine Shearer, and Connor Shearer, several great-grandchildren, his brother Claude (Charlene) Rowland Jr., his cousin and wonderful friend Carl Bond, and special friend Rev. Jim Webb. His wife Christina died November 20, 2006, he is also preceded in death by his sons Dale Shearer and Bill Shearer Jr., his grandsons Dustin Shearer and Chad Shearer, and his other brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Webb officiating. Burial will be in Goshen Cemetery.
