Walter Earl Powell Jr., age 54, of Richmond, Indiana, died Sunday, March 5, 2023, in Rochester, Minnesota.
Born August 4, 1968, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Walter Earl Powell Sr. and Susan Smalley Powell, Walter was a resident of this community for 29 years. He was a high school graduate from Lakeland High School, Florida, and enjoyed shopping, playing guitar, rock music, and spending time with his grandkids and family.
Survivors include his parents; son, Jerry (Mona) Powell of Washington; grandchildren, Lylith and Madison Powell of Richmond and Emerys Powell of Ohio; sister, Michelle Powell of Kentucky; brothers, Roger Strange of Richmond, Indiana, and Justin Powell, of Kentucky; best friend (like a brother) Jeff Slaten from Florida; nephews, Channing and Cameron Powell, Kobe Powell, and Lebron Powell; niece, Kaylianna Powell; aunts; and uncles.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Carolyn Scott and Barbara Strange; brother, Jimmy Gentry; grandparents; and nephew, Carmelo Powell.
