Virginia A. McClaran, 83 of New Castle passed away peacefully Friday, March 24, 2023 at Heritage House surrounded by her family. She was born on July 4, 1939 in Albany, KY a daughter of the late Chester Butler and Beatrice (Aaron) Cundiff.

Known to be a very independent woman, Virginia was always “dressed to the nines” and was never seen without her hair and makeup being just right. Virginia was a 1957 graduate of Clinton County High School located in Albany, KY and she also graduated from cosmetology school. She had been employed over the years at Guarantee Auto and traveled to Florida where she opened several Fashion Bug stores; also while in Florida she worked at Wal-Mart. Virginia loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren along with her precious poodles. She was a member of the American Legion Post #137 Ladies Auxiliary, Moose and Eagles Lodges.

Virginia is survived by her daughter, Patricia Lyall; granddaughters, Chasity (John) Stockton and Tiffany West; sister, Alice Wolf; two great grandsons, Mykah (Elspeth) Bertram and Joseph Jolley; great granddaughter, Alyssa (Skilyer) Reed; niece, Debbie (Rick) Hughes; great nephew, Will Campbell; great niece, Patty (James) Scott and their two children; aunt, Bonnie Floyd; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Virginia is preceded in death by her husband, Bazel Richardson; brother, Wendell Butler; son-in-law, Todd Lyall.

Services will be held at 4:00pm Friday, March 31, 2023 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Paul Davis officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00pm until the time of service on Friday.
