Virgil L Kelley Jr, a resident of New Castle passed away Monday, February 27, 2023 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie Indiana. He was born September 14, 1960 in New Castle, a son of the late Virgil Kelley Sr and Donna (Wolfe) Kelley.
He had been an employee at New Castle State Correctional Center and then Pendleton Reformatory as a prison guard for several years. Virgil also worked at the Henry County Youth Center and the Bennett House in New Castle. He worked at Kelleys Plumbing and Electric that was owned by his father. Virgil enjoyed weightlifting as well as growing and caring for plants. He enjoyed attending midget and spirit car races and had a great sense of humor.
Survivors include his son: Virgil L Kelley III of New Castle; granddaughter: Isis Lee-Rayne Kelley of New Castle; sisters: Linda Kelley-Brewster and Teresa Kelley, both of New Castle; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, March 3, 2023 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition.
