Timothy Dean Love passed away Saturday, March 25, 2023 after a 14-year battle with multiple myeloma. Born February 22,1951 in Richmond, Indiana to Carl Edwin and Gene Elizabeth Brown Love. He was a music educator for 43 years beginning at Centerville-Abington Community Schools in 1973 continuing on to Richmond Community Schools, Northeastern Wayne Schools and coming out of early retirement to start the band program at Seton Catholic Schools.
After losing both of his parents by the age of 18, Tim developed a work ethic that never quit. He worked at Wayne Works school bus factory every summer, so he could graduate from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music debt free. Tim married Holly Anne Holmes on July 14, 1973 and soon began his career in music. Tim was a masterful trumpet player – performing in dance bands, brass choirs, quintets and for countless church services. However, his true calling was teaching. Tim became a beloved music educator who inspired countless students beyond the classroom. No one was left untouched by his shining examples of kindness and love.
Before retiring, Tim and Holly travelled to Ireland and Hawaii and enjoyed many family vacations in Siesta Key, Florida. During retirement, Tim enjoyed golfing, teaching trumpet lessons, instructing area beginning band students and most of all, spending time with his kids, grandkids and extended family.
He will be missed by his wife of 49 years Holly Holmes Love; son Terry Carl Love and daughter Sarah Elizabeth Scholl, son-in-law Adam Scholl, grandchildren Nolan Timothy Scholl, Natalie Grace Scholl, and Nicholas James Scholl, mother-in-law Carol Holmes, brothers-in-law Howard (Pam) Holmes, Bruce (Lorie) Holmes, Tyrone (Darlene) Holmes, James (Angie) Kirtley; sisters-in-law Julianne (Doug) Cochran, Teresa Rynard and David Daly, Tonia (Jeff) Banter; aunt Ann Brown, cousins Karen (Steve) Wahl, Steve Brown, Barb Brown, and Dr. Scott (Kelly) Brown.
He was preceded in death by his parents, mother who raised him Marilyn A. Love, father-in-law James Holmes, mother-in-law Barbara Holmes, brother-in-law Terry Lee Holmes, and uncle Woody Brown.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Robert Bode for diagnosing Tim’s cancer early enough to be treated by Dr. Rafat Abonour and his exceptional staff at IU Health Simon and Schwarz Cancer Centers – especially RN Janelle, caregiver extraordinaire.
Visitation for Tim will be Friday, March 31st from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church 121 South 18th St., Richmond, IN 47374. Funeral service, officiated by Rev. Cliff Nunn and Rev.
