Thomas Dean King Jr., singer-songwriter, 61, of Connersville, went home to be with the Lord at 3:00 in the afternoon, Wednesday, February 22, 2023.

The younger of two children, he was born September 16, 1961 in Gary, Indiana, to Thomas Dean King, Sr. and Geraldine Marcum King.

In 1980, he graduated from Connersville High School. He also attended the Connersville Area Vocational School where he excelled at electricity in the VICA program, ultimately leading him to be awarded the top electrical student in Indiana. From there, he went on to place second in the national competition in Georgia.

His electrical career took off with a spark, beginning as a journeyman electrician at Visteon where he was the maintenance supervisor. Along with his family, Tom also became the co-owner of K & K Electric and Cain Heating and Cooling where he performed exemplary electrical work and customer service. He was also awarded Reader’s Choice Award for Best Electrician a number of times by the Connersville News Examiner.

Aside from his vocational line of work, Tom was also in the music ministry. He was well known across the nation for his singing. In fact, he went as far to place second in TNN’s “Be A Star”. He also frequently traveled to Nashville to record albums at the Daywind Recording Studio. As a Daywind recording artist, he recorded many albums that people continue to enjoy. In his leisure, Tom also loved singing karaoke at fairs and festivals whenever the opportunity arose.

Besides his work in Nashville, Tom also traveled the nation singing and preaching the Gospel. It was his desire to spread the Good News wherever he went, and many lives were touched by his ministry.

Aside from music, Tom enjoyed renovating houses with his wife, Brenda, whom he married February 17, 1996 in Woodland Bible Church. Together, they enjoyed many DIY projects.

He was the MacGyver of all things: electronics, lawn mowers, etc. If it was fixable, he could figure it out!

In his free-time, he also loved being pool side and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Brenda King; five children, Krystyna Blair, Kara (Sanel) Cehic, and Kimberlyn King, all of Clinton Township, Michigan, Ryan (Lea) Mains and Kyle (Chelsea) Mains, both of Connersville; eleven grandchildren, Evan, Kaleb, and Audri Blair, Jackson Whaley, Benjamin and Daniel Cehic, Gavin, Joshua, Hadley, Evelyn, and Ayden Mains; his parents, Thomas Dean King Sr. and Geraldine King of Connersville; a sister, Violet Johnson of Connersville; a sister-in-law, Lenora Moore of Connersville; two brothers-in-law, Bill (Vicki) Macke of Connersville and John Macke of Richmond; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
