Robert G. Irvine, formerly of Richmond, IN, passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 17th at his home in Squaw Lake, MN at the age of 88.

Robert, commonly known as IRV was born in Cincinnati, OH to Robert and Sylvia Probst Irvine November 14, 1934. His family moved to Richmond where he spent his childhood and graduated from Richmond High School. IRV spent time in the Army and was a Korean War Veteran. After his time in the military, IRV worked as a postal carrier for the USPS and a patrolman for the Richmond Police Department. During this time, he married his soul mate, Constance Kay Lord. After realizing his dream of a college education, IRV enrolled in college obtaining a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. IRV’s interest in Criminal Justice led him to an investigator position at the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office. IRV eventually put his knowledge to work teaching at Illinois Valley Community College in Oglesby, IL. While teaching he obtained his master’s degree. After retirement IRV relocated to Deer River, MN where he owned and operated IRV’s Resort. After many years IRV moved to Squaw Lake, MN where he enjoyed his remaining years with his family and horses.

Survivors include sisters; Charlotte Miller & Mary (Doug) Irvine-Alcorn, and one brother John (Peggy). Sons; Daniel, Jeff (Rhonda), Sean (Allison); Daughters; Sarah and Erin (Nick) Stephen. Grandchildren; Chris Morris, Kyle (Brittany), Devin (Kaly), Shannon (Neil) Cooper, Anne, Lauren, Tate, Paisley, Coy, Mylee, Lane, Emma and Clarissa; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, wife Connie, brothers; Charles and Michael; and great-grandson Brantley N. Irvine.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Cease Family Funeral Home, 81 Main Street South, Blackduck, MN 56630, 218-835-3300. At the request of IRV there will be no visitation or service. A private service for the immediate family will be announced at a later date.
