Robert “Bob” Kinsey Jenkins passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023 after courageously living with Alzheimer’s disease for seven years.
Bob was born, along with his identical twin, Bill, on March 21, 1959 in Richmond, Indiana to Joseph and Mary (Zuzolo) Jenkins. Bob was one of five siblings and leaves behind his brothers, Joseph Kinsey Jenkins and William Kinsey Jenkins (Bonnie) and his sisters, Carol Kinsey Jenkins (Michael) and Katherine Kinsey Jenkins.
Bob graduated from Richmond High School in 1977, and along with Bill, followed his brother and sisters to New England for college. Bob graduated from Assumption College in 1981 where he was the Class of ’81 President for three years. Upon graduation, Bob started his college admission career, beginning at Mitchell College, then Fisher Junior College, and returning to his beloved alma mater as Director of Admissions at Assumption College. Bob then embarked on a very successful banking career, starting as a regional Business Development Officer at Bank of Boston-CT. Working at BankBoston, Sovereign Bank and Webster Bank, Bob’s banking journey culminated as the VP of Retail Banking and Operations at Chicopee Savings Bank.
Bob married Laura (Heinold) on January 30, 1993, and moved to Longmeadow, MA where they welcomed their beautiful daughter, Sara Kinsey Jenkins, Assumption College Class of 2020. Bob was involved and volunteered with many organizations. One of his greatest joys was volunteering with the Boys and Girls Club of Chicopee, where he served as their first vice-president of the board of directors and was awarded the Dr. Edward Ryan Award in 2014. If you were lucky enough to meet Bob, you had a friend for life. Bob loved his family deeply, adored his friends, had a contagious passion for his work, proud to be an Assumption Hound, and above all, just one of the kindest people ever. He gave back as much as he could. Laura and Sara would like to thank all the angels from Silver Linings Home Care, Baystate Home Health and Hospice, and the Memory Care Unit at the Reserve. The care Bob received was exceptional! We would also like to thank the family and friends who supported us on this journey, we are grateful and we love you. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
To honor Bob, his family asks that donations be sent to the following organizations: The Assumption Fund, Assumption University, 500 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA 01609, the Boys and Girls Club of Chicopee, 580 Meadow Street, Chicopee, MA 01013 or to the Alzheimer’s Association – MA/NH Chapter, 309 Waverly Oaks Road Waltham, MA 02452.
