Michael Lee Smith, 73, of New Castle passed away Thursday, January 12, 2023 at his residence. He was born on July 3, 1949 in New Castle a son of the late Walter and Vera (Moses) Smith.
Mike was a painter by trade and owned his own painting business, Mike’s painting. He had a passion for working on cars and motorcycles or just sitting in the garage with his buddies passing around stories. Most important to Mike was his family; his wife, Betty, was his whole world and he cherished his children and grandchildren. He also loved to fish and spent their winters in Florida.
Mike is survived by his wife of 42 years, Betty Smith of New Castle; children, Michelle Poe, Michael Smith Jr., Robert (Angel) Smith; step children, Eldon (Sandy) Quesinberry, Elizabeth Bratton and Tammy Warner; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by brothers, Gene & Jack; and sisters, Diane & Sue.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Tony Piper officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery.
