Lucia Ann “Shannie” Thomas, 93, of Connersville, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at the Heritage House of Connersville where she had been a resident for the past year.

She was born March 4, 1929 in Fostoria, Ohio, one of five children of Lucian and Alma Huss Kinn and was a graduate of St. Wendelin High School in Fostoria. Following high school, Shannie received her Bachelor of Science in Dietician Studies from Mary Grove College in Detroit, Michigan.

She met her husband, William F. “Bill” Thomas, at the Dance Hall on Gem Beach at Lake Erie. By the time they married on November 1, 1952, Bill was a 2nd Lieutenant in the Air Force. Following Bill’s discharge, they returned to Connersville for residence.

Shannie was a devoted and loving homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

She was a member of St. Gabriel Church, a member of Tri Kappa Sorority, and the Dorothy Canfield Literary Club.

Along with her family, she was a member of the Connersville Country Club as well as the Catawba Island Club in Port Clinton, Ohio.

For many years, she volunteered for the Meals on Wheels program.

In her leisure, Shannie loved playing cards, Bridge, and Pinochle. Above all, she enjoyed being with her loving family and dear friends.

Survivors include six children, Jan Marie (Philip) Beachler of Kettering, Ohio, Patricia Louise (Doug) Lohse of Cincinnati, Ohio, James Franklin (Nancy) Thomas of Greenville, South Carolina, Frank Edward (Patricia) Thomas of Brentwood, Tennessee, Theresa Elizabeth Owens of Lafayette, Indiana, and Sherri Ann (Brian) Leedke of Carmel, Indiana; fourteen grandchildren, Anna (Brian) Furderer, Emily (Bryan) Moritz, Benjamin Beachler, Katherine (Zach) Roush, Elizabeth (Alex) Burkhart, Will Thomas, Nathan Thomas, Aaron Thomas, Alec Thomas, Thomas Owens, Billy Owens, Allie Leedke, Clare Leedke, and Charlie Leedke; six great grandchildren, Owen, Eli, Natalie, Nora, Lillian, and Charli; two siblings, Frank (Delores) Kinn and Marilyn Kinn, both of Fostoria, Ohio; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, William F. “Bill” Thomas; her parents; two brothers, Edward Kinn and James Kinn; and a son-in-law, George Owens.

Recitation of the rosary will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. with visitation to follow until 12:30 p.m. on Friday, January 6, 2023 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend Dustin Boehm at 1:00 p.m. at St. Gabriel Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Dale Cemetery.
