James A. “Shorty” Harrison, 80, of Richmond, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023 at Reid Hospital. He was born in London, KY on July 31, 1942 to James C. and Addie Harrison.
Shorty moved to this area in 1960. He was the owner and operator of Harrison & Sons Construction for many years. Shorty married Loretta (Dickenson) on December 16, 1970. He enjoyed building furniture, gardening, 4-wheeling, and telling stories, but mostly spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Loretta; sons – Larry D., James “JB”, Jesse A. & Eric L. Harrison and daughter, Lisa (David) Morrison; grandchildren, Misty, Courtney, Karissa, Dakota, Hayley, Hunter, Rhylie, Evan, Jase, Jenna and Kristi; great grandchildren, Kynslee, Kase, Charlie, Dannika and Kayleigh; siblings, William, Dennis, Fornie, Judy, Shirley, Deborah and Margaret; a special cousin, Dale Lee and his dog, Brover. He was preceded in death by two sons, Honorable John Michael and James Brian Harrison; a brother, Dale and sister, Wanda.
Friends may call from 10 AM until the start of the funeral service at 12 Noon on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel in Cambridge City. Burial will follow at Abington Cemetery in Centerville. Online condolences may be made at www.waskoms.com
