Gladys Pence, age 94, of Richmond, Indiana passed away peacefully on Monday March 6, 2023 with her daughters by her side.
Gladys was born in London, Kentucky on February 1, 1929 to John and Mary Hamilton. She would later tell the story of how she arrived by train as a young adult in Richmond, Indiana. Where she remained the rest of her life. Her hobbies included: thrift shopping, going to yard sales and taking care of her plants. She also had a love for country music that included many singers such as George Jones, Hank Williams and Ernest Tub, just to name a few.
She is survived by 3 daughters: Carla Willett, Sheila Pence and Donna Noland; grandchildren: Amy Pence, Jeremy Pence, Kristy Pence, Mark Baker and April Smith; great grandchildren: Nathan Sullivan, Riley Sullivan, Princess Moberly, Sophie Baker, Taylor Lawson and Michael Rice III. She is preceded in death by 3 children: Peggy Pence, Robert Pence and Jerry Pence; husband Robert Pence; great granddaughter Brooklyn Carlin Pence; 4 sisters, 1 brother and both parents.
Her family was her greatest love which included 2 special pets: Poohkitty and Romeo. She was the heart of the family, to know her was to love her. She was a kind and gentle soul who never passed judgement on anyone. She was however very straight forward and would speak her mind even to tell you that you picked up a little weight. She kept us all laughing and has given us very special memories to hold in our hearts.
We have peace knowing that she is now with her loved ones in heaven. Heaven gained an Angel the day she passed and she will be greatly missed.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary has been entrusted to handle arrangements.
