Elaine J. Bledsoe, 85, of Dayton, Ohio passed away February 15, 2023 at Miami Valley Hospital South. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Ivan and Susan (Shepherd) Hodson.

A graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School, she received her Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University and completed her Master of Science degree at Wright State University. As a military spouse, she had a multi-faceted career including secretary, college guidance counselor, high school math teacher, computer programmer, and software acquisition specialist.

Elaine loved cats, birdwatching, spending time on the wild coast of California, reading, the songs of Barbara Striesand, the poems of Emily Dickinson, garage sales, travel, the beauty of nature, and time with her family. She was an active volunteer with the Tenth Life.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Jack Bledsoe; son, Gregory (Tamara) Bledsoe; daughter, Alicia Bledsoe (Ed Jewell); sister, Marcia (Chuck) Essigs; brother-in-law, Bill Bledsoe and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Lois Hodson; infant brother, Hugh Edward Hodson and sisters-in-law, Dorothy Bledsoe and Carol Jones.

A memorial gathering will be from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Friday, February 24, 2023 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, 3406 S. Memorial Drive New Castle, IN 47362. Burial will follow at Circle Grove Cemetery in Spiceland, Indiana.
