Douglas Duane Newman, 74, of New Castle, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at St. Vincent Heart Center. He was born June 29, 1948 in New Castle, a son of the late Pleasant and Annabelle (Miller) Newman.

Duane retired from Chrysler Corp. in New Castle in 2003 following 33 years of service. He was a member of the UAW Local #371. Duane believed in working hard, and he owned and operated Newman’s Paving & Excavating, as well as Newman’s Salvage. He has done a little bit of everything from concrete work, operating heavy equipment, working on cars and heavy equipment, to welding to name a few. He was always ready to help anyone that he could. He had a caring soul. He would watch the colts game when he wasn’t out driving around, he enjoyed being outside as much as he could. He enjoyed playing pool and tinkering on things He loved his family

He is survived by his wife of over 48 years, Mary (Hudson) Newman of New Castle; four children, David (Michelle) Newman of New Castle, Cindy (Austin) Bainter of New Castle, Misty (Roger) Shelton of Crocker, MO, and Amanda Neal (Keith Stanley) of New Castle; 7 grandchildren, Brandon Jack (Michelle) Newman of Japan, Jacob (Kenzi) Hamm of New Castle, Dillon (Elesea) Hamm of New Castle, Erica (Gabriel) Cherian of Dixon, MO, Jared Cooper (Anna Lovell) of St. Robert, MO, Brittany Neal and Skyler Stanley, both of New Castle; great grandchildren, Eli and Max Newman, Anastasia and Kenneth Cooper, Brantley Andrews; a sister, Vicki Howe of New Castle; a brother, Terry Newman of New Castle; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jessica Cooper; sisters, Barbara Adams and Helen Bales.

Services will be at 6:00 p.m., Monday, January 9, 2023 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service with Paul Davis officiating. Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. prior to the service.
