Della Marion Sponsel, age 83, of Richmond, Indiana, was called home Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at Reid Health surrounded by family.

Born October 13, 1939, in Woodbridge, Pennsylvania, to William Charles and Mildred O’Neil Provance, Della had lived in Richmond since 1959. She worked as a secretary at Trinity Lutheran Church for 40 years. Della was a fan of county music, especially Aaron Tippin, and she enjoyed riding motorcycles with her husband and taking her grandchildren on vacation to their favorite spot at Myrtle Beach. She had a sweet tooth, was a Pirates fan, was a huge Steelers fan and enjoyed dressing in black and gold and waving her “Terrible Towel”, and she loved her family and her God.

Survivors include her daughters, Lisa Masters and Linda Conner of Richmond; son, William (Lori) Sponsel of Richmond; grandchildren, James (Kristin) Boardman, Vincent (Clarissa) Marino, Michael Marino, Tara Masters (Brandi Orem), Heather (Brandon) Wade, T J (Amy) Turner, Bobby (Danielle) Conner, Samantha (Demetrius) Prince, and Jacob Conner; great-grandchildren, Kylar, Kali, Bryson, Koda, Trexton, Tarek, Talon, Evelyn, and one on the way; sister, Helen Gail Kofman; brother, Bobby Provance; special friend, Shirley; sister-in-law, Carol Sponsel.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Sponsel, to whom she was married July 24, 1959; parents; many siblings; and many relatives and good friends.

Visitation for Della Marion Sponsel will be from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Memorial service will follow at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home.
