Carolyn Sue Walker was born April 25, 1942, to Arthur William Byrd and Maurine Jett Byrd at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana.
Our mother, Carolyn Sue Walker, passed away on March 15, 2023, at 5:04 AM, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio.
Carolyn attended Richmond Community Schools and enjoyed going to the high school basketball games. She was a member of The Lighthouse Assembly of God Church.
Our mother was a hard worker and raised four children alone. She worked at Vaile School as an aide in the cafeteria and at Golden Rule Nursing Home until she retired. Mom became a grandmother to Tennielle Marie Walker-Crabtree and Brandon Duane Walker on June 19, 1980. They are the first grandchildren to our family.
All of us were raised up going to church with our mother. Christmas is our family’s best holiday celebration; from cooking the dinner, wrapping presents and opening them too, playing board games and cards as well are memories we will always treasure. Mom enjoyed being a grandmother.
She leaves to cherish her memory; her children: Joe Walker, Jr., Eugenia James and Anthony Walker; grandchildren: Tennielle Marie Walker-Crabtree, Brandon Duane Walker and Jo Jo Gebhart; great grandchildren: Amiyah Gebhart and Brandilyn Gebhart; sister: Reatha Glen; nephews: Author Byrd and Phillip Byrd; and cousins: Eleanor Ison, Vincent Isom and Brian Isom.
She is preceded in death by her parents; a daughter: Tonya Walker; sister: Victoria Byrd; and a brother: Jimmy Byrd.
Funeral services will be held at Community Family Funeral Home on Monday, March 27, 2023, at 1:00 PM. Family and friends may visit the funeral home Monday one hour prior to the service.
