Bob Slagal, age 90, of Richmond, Indiana, died Monday, January 23, 2023, at Friends Fellowship Community.
Born June 9, 1932, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Hayden E. and Lydia M. Paul Slagal, Bob was a resident of this community for 60 years. He received his B.S. degree from Purdue University in 1956 for Electrical Engineering. Bob retired from Belden and also worked at AVCO. He was an Assistant Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America. Robert enjoyed being a HAM radio operator, and pilot. Bob also loved sailing boats, canoeing, camping, and traveling.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen Snell Slagal; daughters, Diane (Michael) Vernon of Milton, Indiana, and Sharon (Richard) McCutchen of Cincinnati, Ohio; son, Steven (Karin) Slagal of Lancaster, Virginia; grandchildren, Kristin (Scott) Shiffert of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Elizabeth (Scott) Silvestro, of Odessa, Florida, Erich (Morgan) Slagal, of Upton, Massachusetts, and Erich Vernon, from Milton, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation for Robert Paul Slagal will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 28, 2023, at First Presbyterian Church, 100 N. 10th St., Richmond, Indiana. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 28, 2023, at the church with Reverend John Hollis officiating. Burial will be in Glen Haven Cemetery.
