Betty Talavera, age 81, formerly of New Castle, passed away Friday, February 17, 2023, at the Waters of Muncie. She was born March 12, 1941, in Moorehead, Kentucky to the late Lenard & Vadie (Puckett) Williams.

Betty worked for the State of Indiana in management at both the New Castle and Richmond State Hospitals, the Indiana Soldiers & Sailors Home and Pendleton Prison. She loved animals & cooking. It was said that Betty was a mother figure to all and would feed and take care of anyone around her. She loved in a way no one else could and through this love made life for so many others better. She held many titles in her life, but the titles of mom and grandma were the ones that meant the most to her. She was a past member of Community Chapel Church in New Castle.

Betty is survived by 6 children; Tina (Todd Brown) Talavera, Loretta Talavera, Ignacio “Lee” (Christy) Talavera, Manny Talavera, Carmella (Tom) Pike & Brian “Scott” Talavera: 13grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren & 2 Great-great Grandchildren: 2 siblings; Murvel Williams & Terry Williams as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Betty was proceeded in death by her parents listed above and siblings; Thelma Wilkinson, Bobby Williams & Charlie Williams and longtime companion Frank Smith.

Visitation for Betty will take place on Wednesday February 22, 2023, from 4:00 ~ 7:00 PM at Rose City Funeral Home. 2011 Broad St in New Castle. Funeral Services will be Thursday February 23, 2023, at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will take place at South Mound Cemetery immediately following services.
