Betty J. Jenkins, age 85, of Richmond, Indiana, died Sunday, February 19, 2023, at Reid Health.
Born September 14, 1937, in Roane Co., Tennessee, to Lee Elmer and Susieann Bailey, Betty was a resident of this community since the late 1960’s. Betty retired from Richmond Community Schools. She met and married Harold Jenkins in 1957, in Tennessee. They were married for 36 years, before his passing in 1993. She loved her family, especially her grand kids. Betty had a green thumb for gardening, and also enjoyed canning, cooking, and reading. She was a devoted Christian.
Survivors include her children, son, Harold (Gladys) Jenkins, of Spring City, Tennessee; daughter, Sue (Todd) Mann, of Richmond, Indiana; son, Dexter (Lynn) Jenkins, of Richmond, Indiana; daughter Clara (Ron) Bales of Centerville, Indiana; and son, Robert (Lacey) Jenkins of Fountain City, Indiana; grandchildren, Andy, Kristin, Jessica, Tammy, Shelby, Brittney, Skylar, Tatum, Taylor, and Sophie; 18 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; 4 great great great grandchildren;son in law, Harold Mendenhall of Richmond, Indiana; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; daughter Delores Mendenhall; 4 sisters; 1 brother; and grandchildren, Dougie and Amanda.
Visitation for Betty Jean Jenkins will be from 10:00 to 12:00 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2023, 2023, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2023, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery.
