Betty J. Harris, age 89, of Richmond, Indiana, died Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at Arbor Trace Exceptional Senior Living.
Born June 3, 1933, in Muncie, Indiana, to Herman and Vera Keesling, Betty lived in this community most of her life. She was a member of First English Lutheran Church. Betty was a great mom, grandma and great grandma. She never knew a stranger. Betty’s glass was always half full. She was fun loving and always invited people into her space. Betty loved spending her retirement years with Merle at their home in Tennessee, before returning to Richmond in 2015.
Survivors include her daughters, Kelly (Darin) Rice of Myakka City, Florida, and Linda (Fred) Sherrow of Richmond; son, Bruce (Rhonda) Harris of Richmond; grandchildren, Dina Mink, Whitney Sherrow, Jodi Berta, Rhett Sherrow, Brandi Rutledge, Shane Harris, Zachary Harris, and Chloe, Elijah, and Gabriel Rice; great-grandchildren, Jalen, Ava, Julia, Abigail, Irelyn, Bryce, and Vera; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Merle Harris who died in 2017 after 57 years of marriage; daughter, Pamela Jack Farris; son, Brian Harris; parents; and sister, Shirley Flanagan.
Per Betty’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral service. Burial will be at a later date in Lutherania Cemetery, Richmond.
