Betty “Elizabeth” Jane Seasongood, 93, of Connersville passed away Thursday evening, January 12, 2023 at Walker Place, Shelbyville.

Betty was born November 20, 1929 in Aurora, Indiana to Clarence William Rumsey and Della Brown Rumsey and was one of six children. She graduated in 1947 from Manchester High School.

Following her graduation from high school, Betty was employed as an administrative assistant for Seagram’s Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Indiana where she met her future husband Edward Seasongood, who was the Principal Chemist for the Seagram’s Distillery in Lawrenceburg. They were married in Aurora in 1951 and lived several years in the Aurora/Lawrenceburg area and started their family of four children. They were married for 62 years.

Betty and Ed moved to Connersville in 1959 when he accepted a position at Connersville High School to teach Chemistry and Biology.

Betty was a homemaker and very proud to spend her time taking care of their four children and managing their household so Ed could devote the time he needed to be successful in his career and enjoy time with their children, family, and friends.

In her leisure time, Betty enjoyed gardening and taking care of their yard with Ed, canning vegetables and fruits, embroidery, going on a wide variety of cruises, spending time with family, and her involvement in local clubs, organizations, and church, such as Psi Iota Psi sorority, ADOU, various Bridge clubs, and a charter member of Peace Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her three daughters, Deborah Seasongood of Connersville, Beverly Crouse of Naples, FL, and Susan (Ron) Thomson of Fort Myers, FL.; five grandchildren, Rachel Jordan, Byron (Brandi) Crouse, Jessica (Zackaree) Hedin, Parker (Emily) Thomson, and Quinn Thomson; four great grandchildren, Hailie-Ann and Kameryn Crouse, and Graham and Leslie Thomson; and one sister, Ada Courter.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Ed, a son, Tom, her parents, and four of her brothers and sisters.

There will be no services. Celebrations of Betty’s life will be held at a later date by family members in Indiana and Florida. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations can be made to Peace Lutheran Church, Connersville. Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
