Anna Virginia Tornes (Terhaar) of Sunbury, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2022, at Johnstown Pointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after an extended illness.
She was born October 15, 1934, in Harrisburg, IN to the late Ruby E. (Weaver) and Joseph G. Terhaar. Anna graduated from Williamsburg, IN High School and St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing in Indianapolis, IN and practiced nursing in Indiana and Michigan.
Anna was a woman of strong Catholic faith and had a heart for serving others. She was talented in sewing, woodworking, baking, making rosaries, and winning at cards. Anna was active with St John Neumann Women’s Club and Big Walnut Friends who Share.
Anna married Larry Tornes in 1959 and is survived by her husband, and four children Mary Hayes (Mark), Sharon Petty (Eric), James (Jackie) and Brian (Debra), 8 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Elsie, 5 sister-in-laws, 3 brother-in-laws and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will include a viewing on March 10, 2023 from 6:00pm to 8:30pm located at Snyder Funeral Homes, DeVore Chapel (637 Oh-61, Sunbury, Ohio 43074) and the funeral mass on March 11, 2023 at St John Neumann Church beginning at 10am with Father Daniel Dury officiating. Interment will directly follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
