Ruth L. Bright, 86, passed away Sunday December 25, 2022, at Reid Health in Richmond, Indiana. The daughter of the late Chester and Lela Esther Smith, Ruth was born in Wayne County, Indiana on August 25, 1936. She was raised in Milton and was a lifelong member of the Western Wayne community. Ruth retired in 1994 from Alcoa in Richmond after thirty-five years of service. Following retirement, she and her husband Larry worked at J & J Packaging in Brookville. Ruth enjoyed life. She was a member of the Moose Lodge in Richmond and Connersville, was an avid BINGO player, liked to watch wrestling, put together jigsaw puzzles and stop at yard sales. You were in big trouble if you called her on the phone between 12:30 and 2:00 and interrupted her Soap Operas. She was a huge Elvis fan and enjoyed the company of her feline companions.

Survivors include 5 children, Marcella Davis, Rebecca Mason, Victoria York, and Stephen Moistner all of Richmond, Jerry (Melody) Moistner of Hillsdale, MI; several grand, great-grand, and great-great grandchildren; 2 siblings, Paul Edwin Smith and Shirley Parkhurst both of Texas; 4 half-brothers, Steve, Randy and Rick Smith of Cambridge City and Mike Smith of California; half-sister, Brenda Kimbel of Richmond.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas “Larry” Bright on June 6, 2011.  They were married in Jellico, Tennessee on July 15, 1981; granddaughter, Kimberly Taylor; 1 brother; 2 sisters; 2 stepsons; 2 half-sisters; 1 stepbrother; 1 stepsister; stepmother, Mary C. Smith.

Visitation will be on Friday December 30, 2022, from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 1 p.m. at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Pastor David Gill will officiate. A burial will follow at West Side Cemetery in Milton.
