Ruby Mae Landis, 93, of Richmond, Indiana died Friday, October 28, 2022 with her daughter and son-in-law by her side. Daughter of Fred and Mabel Pitman Phelps, Ruby was born on April 24, 1929 in Waynesburg, Kentucky.

She attended Waynesburg High School graduating with the class of 1947. Following graduation, Ruby married Walter O. Landis on November 1, 1947; together they shared fifty-six years prior to his death in 2003. She was a faithful member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Richmond. Ruby was a collector of many items, a result of living through the Great Depression. She enjoyed gardening and meticulously tending to her flowers. Ruby was a homemaker most of her life, and she loved her husband, her children, her grandchildren and her great- grandchildren very well. She will be deeply missed by her family.

Ruby is survived by her daughter: Kathleen Jewell and her husband Duane; grandchildren: Mikael Kelsey Jewell, Erin Kathleen Jewell Bergman and her husband Brian, Alyssa Michelle Jewell Omdal and her husband Eric; great-grandchildren: Josiah, Tirzah, Cyrus, Truitt, Simeon, Owen. In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her husband Walter; daughter: Jayne E. Landis; brothers: Charles Phelps, Norman “Pete” Phelps, and James Carmack.

A graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at Double Springs Cemetery in Waynesburg, Kentucky. Showalter Blackwell Long, Myers Chapel, Connersville has been entrusted with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church in Ruby’s honor.
