Rillie E. Neal, Sr., 89, of New Castle passed away Thursday morning, September 22, 2022 at Heritage House of New Castle. He was born May 14, 1933 in New Castle, Indiana to the late Estell and Rachel (Perdue) Neal.

A1952 graduate of Sulphur Springs High School, Rillie was a veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean War. He retired from Delco Remy as a fork truck operator in 1982 after 30 years of service. A woodworker, he also did carpentry work. Rillie attended Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church where he helped with the expansion and tile work. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren and great grandchildren’s sporting events. Rillie was always lending a helpful hand and was fondly known as a “giver”.

Survivors include daughter, Vickie (Danny) Bennett of New Castle; son, Rillie “Bubbie” Neal, Jr. of New Castle; two grandchildren, Nathan (Katie) Bennett and Trina (Jason) Jenkins; great grandchildren, Madi, Kadence and Samantha Jenkins and Marin Bennett; siblings, Esther Taylor, Illie “Jane” Hudson and Sonja (Earl) Wilkinson; and several nieces & nephews.

In addition to his parents, Rillie was preceded in death by his wife, Bettie Joann (Massengale) Neal; and his siblings, Ina Hall, Belva Brummett, Dorothy Dunn, Dixie Spurlock, Ray Neal and Oliver Neal.

Services will be held at 5:00 P.M. Sunday, September 25, 2002 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Rev. Robert Van Cise and Earl Wilkinson, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 P.M. until the time of services on Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be on Monday in South Mound Cemetery.
