Phyllis Ann Smith Kibby, 76 of Connersville passed away Tuesday evening, December 6, 2022 at her residence.
She was born October 10, 1946 in Connersville, the daughter of Frederick J. and Mary E. Howard Smith Sr. Phyllis’s siblings are, Pamela Tash of Connersville and Fred Smith of Texas, and the late Jerry Smith.
On November 7, 1964, Phyllis married E. Thomas Steele and she is survived by their three children, T. Dale Steele and Michael A. Steele both of Connersville, and Nancy M. (Steele) Caldwell of Ridgeland, Mississippi. Seven grandchildren: Ashley (Steele) Hoeing and husband Nate of Rushville, Thomas James (TJ) Steele, Riley Steele, Hayden Steele all of Connersville, Mercedies Caldwell and Ty Caldwell of Ridgeland, Mississippi and Katherine (Steele) Starner of South Carolina. Six great-grandchildren: Hazel, Lane and Emmy Hoeing of Rushville, and Aubriella Steele of Connersville, Charlotte and Elliott Starner of South Carolina.
Phyllis and Thomas were married for 21 years until Tom’s passing on April 20, 1986.
Phyllis married Carl D. Kibby on April 8, 1988, and they had lived in Mississippi for nine years and returned to Connersville for residence. Carl passed away on October 4, 2016. Phyllis is survived by her two stepsons; Carl D. Kibby Jr. of Pearl, Mississippi and Craig Kibby; three step grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren.
She had worked for several years at the Independent Title Company until her retirement.
A member of the Connersville Baptist Temple Church and she enjoyed watching sports, shopping, reading and spending time with her family.
