Nicholas F. Lakes, beloved father, son, and brother, unexpectedly died on November 12th, 2022, from a fatal gunshot wound. He was 33 years old.
Nick is survived by his parents Clif Jr. and Becky Lakes, daughters Blaklee and Bexlee, sister Katelyn (David), and one niece, Eleanor. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Clifford and Thelma Lakes, Robert and Gloria Folkerth, and uncle Kent Folkerth. He also leaves behind a half-sister, Stacie, and several loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Nick was born in Richmond, Indiana on November 28th, 1988. He grew up in Hagerstown, Indiana, and graduated from Hagerstown Jr. Sr. High in 2007 where he was a member of the football, basketball, and baseball teams. He attended Indiana State University following high school for a year. Nick enjoyed watching sports. His favorite teams were the Ohio State Buckeyes and Duke Blue Devils. Of all things in his life, Nick was most proud of his daughter, Blaklee.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 19th from 11am-1pmat Culberson Funeral Home, Hagerstown. Services will follow at 1:00 PM. Pastor Paul Gearhardt will officiate. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating to The Drug Policy Alliance, a nonprofit organization that supports ending the criminalization of drug addiction while expanding access to healthcare and treatment services or the Hagerstown High School Athletic Department.
