Mel E. Chasteen, age 79, of Richmond, Indiana, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, November 3, 2022, at his home.
Born May 21, 1943, in Richmond, Indiana, to Ralph Earl and Evelyn L. Morris Chasteen, Mel was a life-long resident of this area. He was a 1962 graduate of Richmond High School. Mel was a sales manager at Fred First Ford in Richmond for 32 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Mel enjoyed antique cars, and NASCAR.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Saundra Sue “Sandy” Chasteen; daughters, Lisa Ann (Ron) Huckery of Liberty Township, Ohio, and Lori Sue (Seth) Smith of Brownsville, Indiana; grandchildren, Holden (Shelby) Smith of Lewisburg, Ohio, Katelyn (Alex) Monson of Newport, Rhode Island, and Joshua (fiancé Aliya Anderson) Huckery of Sharonville, Ohio; Great-grandchild, Lucas Monson; 2 aunts; 3 uncles; cousins, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation for Mel E. Chasteen will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 7, 2022, at First Baptist Church, 1601 South A Street, Richmond, Indiana. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 7, 2022, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Philip Hodgkin officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery.
