Mary M. Mitchell, age 94, living in Richmond, died Friday, September 16, 2022, at Brookdale Senior Living.

She was born March 1, 1928, in Richmond to Theodore and Chrysoula Chagares Marinakes. She and her husband lived in Terre Haute for 34 years and moved back to Richmond.

Mary retired from First Bank Richmond after working 38 years at the Gateway and Downtown Branches. She formerly worked at J.C. Penney’s. She was a 1945 graduate of Richmond High School and Richmond Business College.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She was a member of Harry Ray American Legion Post #65 Auxiliary, a lifetime member of the Kirk Little VFW Post #1108 Auxiliary, a lifetime member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart Auxiliary #1929. She was also a member of the Richmond Senior Center and Widowed Persons Service.

Survivors include her daughter Evelyn Elaine (Paul) Roebke M.D. of Sylvania, Ohio, her son James A. (Sue) Mitchell of Richmond, three grandchildren Eric Roebke, Justin, and Lauren Mitchell, one brother George Marinakes, two sisters Faye Grevis and Stella Moulas nieces and nephews. Her husband of 57 years Gus died on January 16, 2004. She is also preceded in death by a granddaughter Allison Roebke, and her parents.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, September 23, 2022, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Mary’s entombment will be in Earlham Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Thursday, September 22, 2022, at Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
