Lena V. (Morgan) Rector, 73, of New Castle, entered through the gates of Heaven to be with Jesus on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at Heritage House in New Castle following a brief battle with cancer. She was born April 3, 1949 in New Castle, a daughter of the late Ellis D. And Nora (Mikel) Morgan.
A graduate of Blue River Valley High School, Lena attended Medical Assistance Certification Training, and worked at Western Electric in Indianapolis for over 20 years. She then retired from Diamond Star Motors in Normal, IL before moving back to New Castle.
She was a lifetime member of the VFW #1282 Ladies Auxiliary, enjoyed bowling, both locally and travel bowling, and was a member of the Mt. Summit Christian Church.
Lena always enjoyed spending time with her loving grandchildren and being with her sweet 4-legged companion “Seger”.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Melissa (Jeff) Nation of Middletown; four grandchildren, Jacob (Shelby) Nation of Pendleton, Clint (Lauren) Nation of Carmel, Seth Nation (fiancé,Taylor Gillum) of Middletown, and Morgan Nation of Middletown; great grandchildren, Magnolia, Lennon, Brooks, and Trace (due in June 2023); nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Delmar Morgan.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service with Pastor Jeff Johnson officiating. Entombment will follow at Washington Park East in Indianapolis.
