Larry Jay Stilwell, 76, of New Castle passed away Monday, September 26, 2022 at Henry Community Health in New Castle. He was born June 15, 1946 in New Castle, Indiana, a son of the late James “JC” and Mary (Comstock) Stilwell.

He was a 1964 New Castle Chrysler High School graduate and a U.S. Marine Veteran during the Vietnam era. Larry retired from Chrysler Corporation in 2003, after 36 years of service. He was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church, where he attended parochial school. In retirement, Larry & Debbie enjoyed residing in Madison, Indiana on their 50 acre property for several years before returning to New Castle to enjoy spending time with their grandchildren. Larry was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed being outdoors. Debbie and Larry enjoyed many beach vacations. He loved watching the Colts, Indiana Hoosiers, Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Cincinnati Reds. More than that he loved watching his grandchildren in their sporting events. Larry still holds the single season wiffle ball homerun record on 400 South.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Deborah Stilwell; children, Chris (Megan) Stilwell of New Castle and Stephanie (Phil) Criswell of New Castle; grandchildren, Jack Criswell, Dru Criswell, Cormac Stilwell and Dorian Stilwell, all of New Castle; sister, Linda Harvey of Anderson; brother, Joe (Jean) Stilwell of Orlando, Florida; sister-in-law, Jody Adkins of New Castle, brothers-in-law, Scott Alexander and Tom Alexander, both of New Castle; and several nieces & nephews.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Fred Harvey.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place at St. Anne Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle.
