Josephine Brown went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 21, 2022. She was born on March 17, 1943, in Tuscumbia, Alabama to the late King Herrod and Beatrice Scruggs Bonds.

She accepted Christ at an early age; she held membership at New Hope Baptist Church prior to becoming a long-time member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church after moving to Richmond, IN in the late 1960’s. In 2005, Josephine moved to Evansville, IN to be closer to her daughter and became a member of Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church. On January 11, 1963, Josephine married the late Hollis Brown, Sr. and five children were born from that union.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She enjoyed taking care of others, especially through her cooking! Josephine loved preparing meals for her loved ones; if you lived on the Westside of Richmond, you may have smelled her fried chicken, catfish, or smothered cube steak being prepared. In Evansville, she became quickly known for her beans and cornbread meals and turnip greens! Her Christian values were shown through loving her family and serving others.

She retired from Golden Rule Nursing Home as a Certified Nursing Assistant in 1989. She also worked for Absocold/Sanyo Corporation for a long period of time.

Josephine leaves to cherish her beautiful memory three loving children, Reginald Brown, Evansville, IN; Michael (Shannon) Brown, Richmond, IN; Dr. Marilyn (Byron) Robinson, Columbus, OH. Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, husband; two brothers, William Bonds, Aaron Bonds; four sisters, Dorothy Bonds, Samella VanMeter, Rosa Lee Thurston; Patsy E. Cooper; two sons, Hollis Brown, Jr. and Vince Brown.

Visitation will take place for Josephine Brown on Friday, January 6, 2023, from 10 am -12 noon followed by the funeral service beginning at 12 Noon, at Mt.
