John W. Clugston, age 73, of Cromwell, Indiana passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Lutheran Hospital in Ft. Wayne. He was born August 17, 1949, the son of Walter S. Clugston Jr. and Catherine E. DeVaughn Clugston,in New Castle, Indiana.

On April 13, 1991 he married Althea Reier. John honorably served his country in the United States Army and was a volunteer fireman for several years. He retired as a machinist from Dana Corporation and also owned and operated JC Marine. He was a member of Richville United Methodist Church and loved to fish. He was quite the fisherman, participating in and winning many bass tournaments.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Althea Clugston of Cromwell, two sons, Shane Clugston and his wife Leanne, of Summersville, SC, and Brendan Clugston of Dandridge, TN; two step-children, Heather Schuller, Warsaw, IN and Shawn Schuller of Columbia City, IN; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three siblings, Jacque Kempton of Connersville, IN, Cathy and her husband Roy Vandivier of Milton, IN, and LaForne and his wife Brenda Clugston of Cambridge City, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Paul Kempton.

A funeral service was held in John’s honor at Yeager Funeral Home, Ligonier, Indiana, Saturday, November 19, 2022, with Pastors Tamera Gerber and Gary Ford officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at Marian National Cemetery in Marion, Indiana.Memorial contributions may be directed to John’s family, c/o Yeager Funeral Home.
