John P. Pratt, 68, of New Castle, passed away unexpectedly on Friday morning, September 23, 2022 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.

He was born on February 11, 1954 in Muncie, Indiana, a son of the late Gray and Marjorie (Gibson) Pratt.

John attended New Castle Chrysler High School and on January 22, 1977 married the love of his life, Elizabeth “Beth” Williamson. John held a management position at Metals Technology in Shirley where he worked for 20 years. He retired in February of this year from TS Tech. John was a gifted toolmaker, electrician, and mechanic. He enjoyed tinkering with muscle cars but most of all, John loved spending time with his grandchildren and completing home improvement projects with his wife Beth.

Those left to cherish John’s memory include his loving wife of 45 years, Beth Pratt; two children, Jason Pratt of New Castle and Amber (Eric) Burke of Salem; six grandchildren, Kyle, Spencer, and Sierra Pratt of New Castle, and Alyssa, Layne, and Ashley Stewart of Salem. John was looking forward to meeting his first great-grandson, Grey Allen, in March of next year; two
brothers, Thomas Pratt of Plymouth and Larry Pratt of Alabama; a sister, Debbie (Richard) Oldham of New Castle and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by two sisters, Ann Muncey and Marjorie Elizabeth Smitherman; an infant brother, Richard Pratt; a sister-in-law, Linda Goble; two brothers-in-law, Gil Lee and Paul Huddleston, and a very special uncle, Frederick “Fred” (Eveline) Pratt.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at Sproles Family Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Tooley officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens.

Friends may call from 5 – 8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
