Joe Morgan Thornsbury, 89, of Connersville, passed away Friday evening, December 23, 2022 at Hickory Creek Healthcare where he had been a resident for the past three years.

He was born December 18, 1933 in Greenup County, Kentucky, the younger of two children of Newt and Claire Thornsbury.

In 1952, he moved to the Connersville area for employment and on November 22, 1952 he married Faye A. Grizzel in the Grand Avenue Methodist Church.

Joe worked for Rex Manufacturing, and for over thirty years he worked at D. & M. until his retirement. Following retirement, he was employed as a courier for the Fayette Regional Health System for over twenty years.

Joe had been a member of the Eagles Lodge. In his leisure, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and mushroom hunting.

Survivors include a daughter, Debbie (Max) Soliday of Hagerstown; four grandchildren, Jayson (Nicole) Soliday of Fishers, Indiana, Holli (Tim) Shields of Anderson, Indiana, Derek (Julia) Hornsby of Hagerstown, Indiana, and Devin (Lindsay) Hornsby of Connersville; seven great grandchildren, Wesley Soliday, Gracie Shields, Arden Shields, Ainsley Shields, Samuel Soliday, Macie Hornsby, and Rylie Hornsby; and a nephew, Delmar Ray Reffett of Raceland, Kentucky.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Faye A. Thornsbury who passed away July 17, 2010; his parents; a daughter, DiAnna Hornsby who passed away December 21, 2022; a son, Ronnie Joe Thornsbury who passed away December 22, 2020; a son-in-law, Gale Douglas Hornsby who passed away January 26, 2022; a sister, Ella Reffett; and a nephew, Joe Reffett, Jr.

The family would like to thank the staff of Hickory Creek for their wonderful care and dedication.

Due to the close passing of Joe and his daughter, DiAnna Hornsby, the family has chosen to combine the service as follows: Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2022 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Robbie Judd officiating. Following DiAnna’s committal at Everton Cemetery, the procession will arrive at Orange Cemetery for Joe’s committal. The family requests that everyone in attendance please wear a mask.
