Joan Gordon White, 90, formerly of Knightstown passed away Monday, November 7, 2022 at Arbor Grove Village in Greensburg. She was born April 8, 1932 in New Castle to the late Clark and Etheline (Manifold) Gordon.
Joan was a 1950 graduate of Hagerstown High School. She married Denzil Durlyn White on January 16, 1955. Joan was a bank teller for many years, in the Hagerstown, New Castle and Knightstown areas before retiring and starting to work at the Knightstown Elementary School in the cafeteria. She attended Knightstown Friends Meeting and enjoyed quilting and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Alica (Mark) White of St. Paul, Indiana and John (Michelle) White of Spiceland; grandchildren, Steve Ellis, Dustin (Erin) White, Andy Ellis, Casey White (Pasqui Boussery); great grandchildren, William, Charlotte, Henry White and Collin Ellis; a sister, Loretta (Glen) Higgs of Hagerstown; brother in law, Bruce (Linda) White of South Dakota; sister in law; Myra Lou (Tom) Crull of Ohio and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Denzil Durlyn White; an infant brother; an infant sister; another sister, Marilyn Modlin; brother in law, Darrell White; sister in law, Marilyn White and Susie (Bob) Hicks.
Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, November 10, 2022 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service-Knightstown Chapel with Pastor David Oakes officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
