James P. Hagler, Jr., 81, of Farmland, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, September 11, 2022.

He was born in Henry County on March 2, 1941 to James Paul and Addie (Moore) Hagler. He lived in Hagerstown and graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1960. He moved to Farmland 38 years ago where he met and married his wife, Jean on May 7, 1991.

Jim served with the US Army during time of The Viet Nam Conflict. He was a retired employee of Perfect Circle / Dana Corp. and a life-long farmer. He was active in the American Legion in both Farmland Post 353 and Hagerstown Post 333, and served in many positions, including 10th District Commander 2003-2004 and Southern Vice Commander 2011-2012. He also formerly served on the board of Knightstown Children’s Home.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Hagler; a son, Mark (Tammy Grimm) Hagler; 3 step-children, Pamela (Brett Harden) Johnson, Nancy (Todd Kabrich) Johnson and Joseph Collins; 3 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-son, Keith Johnson and 2 siblings, Ruth Bohnke and Glen Hagler.

Visitation will be 4PM to 8 PM on Monday, September 19 and 1 PM to 2 PM on Tuesday, September 20, at Culberson Funeral Home, 51 S. Washington St., Hagerstown. Services will follow at 2 PM. Pastor Stephen Conner will officiate.
