Esther Louise Ames, 94, of Cambridge City, passed away at her home on Wednesday, October 19, 2022. She was born in New Castle on May 18, 1928 to Clyde and Geneva (Timmons) Barnard. On June 13, 1945, she married George W. Ames and they were married for 52 years before his passing on September 14, 1997. Esther worked at Richmond glove Factory and Berg’s Photography Studio, both in Richmond and was an Avon lady. She was a member of Hagerstown Church of The Nazarene. Esther enjoyed time with her family, sewing, crocheting, crafts, reading and doing puzzles.

She is survived by her children, Sharon (Sam) Lilley and David (Diana) Ames; grandchildren, Jason (Polly) Brothers, Aaron (Heather) Ames, Jennifer (Bryan) Haler, Betty (Bryan) Butcher, James (Bethany Cameron) Ames and Marie Ames and Joseph Lilley; great grandchildren, Cody, Jake and Ben Brothers, Mary, Eliyah, Jasmine and David Ames, Jackson Marker, Sawyer Haler, Andrew and Adam Butcher, Jessica, Hanna and Lorele Ames, Samantha and Savanna Lilley,Chandler (Hailee) Brown, Corbin Brown, Clara Brown and Kaden Justice ; great great grandchildren, Avery and Macie Butcher, Willow, Shyllow and Braxton Brown; a sister, Susie Messer; special niece, Verna Callahan and her two “other” daughters, Diana McFall McNew and Diana Henry Helton.

In addition to her parents and husband, Esther was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles, Ernie and Paul Barnard.

Friends may call from 12 noon until the start of the funeral service at 2pm on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel in Cambridge City. Rev. Robert Fannin will be officiating. Interment will follow at Earlham Cemetery in Richmond.
