Ellas Warren, age 84, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Tuesday November 8th, 2022. He was born on December 22nd, 1937, in Owsley County, Kentucky.
Ellas began his career as a Butcher for Anderson Meat Provisions in Clearwater, Florida. After moving North to Indiana, he worked for Wallace Metal, transferring to ALUMAX (Premdor) for the duration of his career; he served as President of the union for 17 years. After retirement he was an avid small engine mechanic. He loved working on lawn mowers for neighbors, friends and family. He frequented auctions all across the area and was known for his love of antiques and coins. He also loved gardening and squirrel and rabbit hunting. With his vivid memory, he was known for his great story telling and recollection of the past.
Ellas is survived by his son: Jason Ellas Warren (Diana Newland); his stepson: Ralph Mahaffey (Nikola); two beloved granddaughters: Willow Jewel Warren and Ellie Grace Warren; two sister-in-law’s: Nancy Starn and Regina Bryant; many nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his close friends, George Edwards and Roger Doyle.
Ellas is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years: Virginia Ann Warren (Ketring); his father: Marion M. Warren; his mother: Lucy Warren (Creech); his brothers: Emery and Andrew; and his sister: Marie.
