Effie Charlene (Raines) Edwards “Maw”, 82, of New Castle, IN went home to be with the Lord on November 23, 2022 at The Waters of New Castle.
Charlene, known to many as Maw, spent her life serving others. She worked at Jerry’s for many years, and in those years she helped and held a place in her heart for a multitude of individuals. Each of these individuals had countless great stories about her, ones about her impact or simply just stories about her personality. She always enjoyed spending time with her loved ones. She was an avid storyteller, enjoyed gardening and helping everyone that she could. Maw also enjoyed playing bingo. Although Maw couldn’t be here forever, the stories, memories, and impact she made will last a lifetime.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father Charlie and Pearl(Coyle) Raines; husband, Jim Edwards; siblings, Russel Raines, Gladys Gordan, Edith Woodward, and Inez Asberry; children, Cheryl Lowery, and Jimmy Edwards Jr; son-in-law, Terry Alley and loved granddaughter Jamie Edwards.
She is survived by her brother, Tom Raines; her children, Kathy Dalrymple, Barbara (JR) Lewis, Lola Alley, Mark (Tina) Edwards, Mary Edwards, and son-in-law, Raymond Lowery. As well as, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A time of sharing will begin at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Friends may visit the family from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday and are encouraged to participate in the time of sharing.
