Dolly Renner Sayler, 97, of Greeneville, passed away Wednesday at Morning Pointe Assisted Living, surrounded by those who loved and cherished her.

She was born on the family farm on the Asheville Highway, now known as Greenelawn Memory Gardens, which will be her final resting place. On December 24, 1943, she married the love of her life, Troy Douglas Sayler, of the Romeo Community. She was employed for 26 years by Montgomery Ward in Richmond Indiana, as a Fashion Manager. She was featured in area newspapers and appeared in parades modeling current fashions. During her years at Montgomery Ward, she made several lifelong friends. After retirement, she and Troy returned to Greeneville to be near family and friends. Although she did not have children, she was loved like a mother by many. She was the glue that connected all family member near and far. She lived a selfless life dedicated to helping family and others. Her caring and compassionate ways will never be forgotten. She was a member of Liberty Hill United Methodist Church and attended Fairview Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Survivors include three sisters, Willie Kate Reed, of Limestone; Lillian Dunn, and Doris Shepherd, of Greeneville; one sister-in-law, Mary Renner, of Chuckey; special niece whom she regarded as a sister, Patricia Bowers, of Chuckey, and several nieces, nephews, and friends whom she loved so much.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ivis and Carrie Devotie Renner; mother and father-in-law, Bart and Florence Sayler, her husband, Troy Douglas Sayler; sisters and brothers-in-law, Geneva (Jack) McKay, Eula ‘Tootsle” (James) Gammons, Ida Sue (Loyce) Shelton, and Imogene (Earnest Vern) Bowman; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles (Wanda) Renner, Joe Douglas (Bunny) Renner, Ivis Renner, Jr., and infant brothers Fred P. and Kirkie Renner; brothers-in-law, Marion Reed, Billy Jack Dunn, Freddie Shepherd, and Tommy Bowers.

The family expresses a special thank you to Dr. Joseph Scott, the staff at Morning Pointe Assisted Living; Amedisys Hospice, and all her loving caregivers for her exceptional care. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1-4 PM at Jeffers Funeral Chapel at Afton. The funeral service will follow at 4:00 PM in Jeffers Afton Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Duncan officiating.

Graveside services will be Monday at 11:00 AM in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home by 10:00 AM to go in procession. Her family and friends will be pallbearers.
