Mr. Buford A. “Buck” Benge, 75, of Lynn, passed away on Sunday morning, November 13. He was born in Franklin County, Indiana on July 27, 1947, the son of Buford F. & Alice W. Renyer Benge.

He was united in marriage to the former Judith McKinley on a cold beautiful Saturday afternoon, October 18, 1969. They were blessed with 2 children and 53 years of marriage. Buck lived in Union County in his younger years and was a graduate of College Corner High School. He farmed most of his life and worked as a lineman for GTE/Verizon, from where he retired after 35 years of service. He enjoyed being outside, keeping busy. He enjoyed raising a garden every year and was known for sharing his home grown produce. Buck was a giving man. He built tables and benches to donate to others. He would visit nursing homes with his ponies and pony cart for the residents to enjoy.

Buck will be missed by his wife, Judy Benge; daughter, Tricia Benge Harris; son, Jonathan Benge; grandson, Chandler Harris & wife, Katrina; great-grandchildren, Jori Harris and Alexandra Price Benge; sister, Margaret Selkirk & husband, Bill; brother, Sam Benge & wife, Betty; loving mother-in-law, Helen McKinley; sister-in-law, Jeanne Roberts & husband, Fred; and several loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Buck was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Jackie & Bob Jones; and brother-in-law, Robert M. McKinley.

Private services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions are encouraged for the donor’s choice of any charitable organization that benefits children.
