Beverly Ann McVay, wife of 1, mother of 5, and grandmother to all, went home peacefully to be with her heavenly Father on October 21, 2022 at 3:01 p.m., surrounded by her family. In fine Beverly fashion, she was late going to her heavenly home to be reunited with her loving husband of 65 ½ years.

Beverly Ann (Spalding) McVay, age 85, a resident of rural Middletown, was born February 26, 1937 in Indianapolis, a daughter of James and Cleo (Worstell) Spalding. She was a 1955 graduate of Lawrence Central High School.

A homemaker her whole life, she loved to cook for her family and make crafts for her children and grandchildren. She loved to read, talk, tell stories and teach. Her favorite time of year was Christmas. She would spend all year making presents for friends and family. She had a great sense of humor. She loved to shop and her famous saying was “I only need a couple of things”, but hours later you are still there. She loved JoAnn fabrics and she would shop so long that her husband would have to take a nap in the parking lot. She enjoyed traveling, anything to do with Arizona, and camping. She loved to have dinners at her house with all of the kids and grandkids.

She was a lifetime soldier of The Salvation Army. She enjoyed going to Home League meetings, attending church services, helping in the clothing room and made everyone who came through the door feel welcome. She was married to the love of her life, Charles Stanley McVay on June 26, 1955 at The Salvation Army Central City Corps in Indianapolis.

She is survived by her daughter, Beth Stamper (husband, Gary) of rural Middletown; three sons, Rev. Jene McVay (wife, Kim) of Ladoga, Indiana, Rev. Ralph McVay (wife, Carol) of Crothersville, Indiana, Randy McVay (wife, Missy) of Anderson; 14 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; a sister and a brother; several nieces, nephews and cousins; as well as a very special friend of the family, Susan Carter of Greensburg.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 ½ years Stan McVay; a son, Bruce McVay; one grandchild, Katie McVay; two great grandchildren, Gavin and Harlynn McVay.

Services will start at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 28, 2022 at The Salvation Army in New Castle with her sons, Reverends Jene and Ralph McVay officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens in New Castle. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m., until time of service at the Salvation Army. Memorial contributions may be given to The Salvation Army, 2500 Washington St., New Castle, IN 47362. You may share condolences or memories of Beverly at www.hinsey-brown.com.
