Betty Clabaugh, 96, Richmond, passed away on Thursday, December 22. She was born on October 31, 1926 in Dayton, Ohio to Harry, Jr. & Ruth Defibaugh Hawkins. S

he was a 1944 graduate of Whitewater High School. Betty married Bill Clabaugh on March 23, 1946. They were blessed with three children and nearly 66 years of marriage before his death on January 15, 2012. Betty worked at Reid Memorial Hospital in the 1950s & 60s as a Nurses Aide. She worked 9 years for Bill Veach and Veach’s Toy Store and also co-owned & operated East Side Variety for 10 years with her husband. She was a member of Central Christian Church and enjoyed singing. She sang with the late Alma Rigsby for many years.

Betty will be missed by her son, Steven Clabaugh & wife, Marsha, daughters, Sharon Provance & husband, Doug Wagers, and Kathy Butler & husband, Mike; 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-great-grandchild; sister, Beatrice Ann Smith; nieces, nephews and special friend, Ray Harrison. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill, 1 grandson, 1 great-grandson, son-in-law, Charles Provance. Betty’s family has requested that all visitors wear a mask during the visitation and service.

Visitation for Betty will be held from Noon–2:00 pm on Thursday, December 29 at the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 29 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.
