Alberta Faye Anderson, 87 years of age, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2022.

Alberta is survived by son Dennis Waller and daughter-in-law Tamara Waller, of Richmond, Indiana, son Terry Henkel and daughter-in-law Mei Lin Chin of Arcata, California, and stepson Robert Anderson of Richmond, Indiana. Her grandchildren include Lisa Bonner and husband James of Brunswick, Georgia, Jacob Waller and wife Andrea of Brunswick, Georgia, Draydon Walker and Maya Waller of Richmond, Indiana, Brent Meadors and wife Anna of Petersburg, Tennessee, and Piakai Henkel of Arcata, California. Great-grandchildren include Summer Bonner of Brunswick, Georgia, Brendon Walker and Tyler Wiley of Richmond, Indiana, and Francine Zurbriggen of Richmond, Indiana. Her surviving brother is Warren Williams of Washington State.

Alberta was born on September 28, 1935, in rural southwestern Ohio. She was one of ten children born to Sarah and Ralph Williams around the time of the Great Depression. Alberta was the only one among her siblings to finish high school, having graduated from the Ansonia, Ohio High School in 1953. She was very proud of her high school education, and regularly attended the Ansonia High reunion up to 2022.

Alberta was preceded in death, in 1991, by her husband Jerry Gregory Henkel from Braffetsville, Ohio. Alberta married Donald Anderson of Richmond, Indiana, in 1994, and they remained happily devoted to each other until Don’s passing in 2018.

Alberta was a dedicated homemaker through much of her adult life and also worked for many years in the State Line Truck Stop and MCL Cafeteria, where she befriended many regular customers. Many members of the local community will remember “Bert” as ever-friendly and ever-joking, and those close to her will remember her exceptional storytelling. Throughout life, Alberta cherished her parents, siblings, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and beloved dogs Pierre and Chi-Chi.

In her later years, Alberta loved playing cards and bingo with girlfriends, fishing with Don, going to country music jamborees, and following the Cincinnati Reds.
