A popular film for kids and teens is now being adapted for local audiences.

Richmond Civic Theatre’s Stage One Youth Theatre is wrapping up its performances of the G-rated “Disney High School Musical Jr.” on Oct. 4-6.

Shows are at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.

Basketball captain Troy discovers the brainy Gabriella, a girl he met on his ski trip, just enrolled at East High. Their plans to audition for their school musical cause chaos in a world of Jocks, Brainiacs, Thespians and Skater Dudes. While some resent the couple’s threat to the status quo, their pairing might encourage others to shine as well.

Show leaders are Lori Current, director; Chloe Waddle, assistant director; Erica Kretchman, production assistant; Tanner Puterbaugh, music director; and Traci McCullum and Kim Shipley, choreographers.

Cast members include Evan Bain, Elise Kretchman, Cohen Current, Rowan Bailey, Daniel Herzog, Makayla Pruett, Jai Thompson, Gabriella Benns, Alice Couch, Ravyn Towns, Jonathan Marsh, Lucy Couch, Laina Elliott, Maya Hamilton, Olivia Hawkins, Ada Smoker, Reese Sturgis, Allister Bergfield, Raegan Jones, Luke Miller, Alaina Webster, Matilda Fuller, Adeline Penrod, Madeline Edwards, Ben Counts, Trevin Crosby, Alivia Leyes, Caliene Webster, Addy Norman, Bristol Pruett, Adeliena Burket, Geneva Sumner, Lillyan Coblentz, Topanga Stingley, Suri Onder, Gabriella Moore, Kadylynn Baker and Rileigh Kamps.
